Agarose in laboratory work

Agarose is a natural polysaccharide that dissolves easily in water and even better in buffers, especially in TBE or TAE buffer, and when it cools, it takes the form of a gel. In this form it is primarily used in analytics and molecular biology as well as in genetic code research and analysis.

Agarose is used especially in the separation of nucleic acids by electrophoresis, i.e. it is used to separate DNA. Depending on the number of base pairs in EPRO's portfolio, you can find a wide range of agaroses designed for the right length of DNA and your needs. Due to the addition of fluorescent dyes, agarose can also be used to visualise fragments in ultraviolet light.

It is important that the agarose (agarose gel) used in the study is a pure product, free from DNase, RNase and pyrogen. Higher gel transparency also results in a sharper image during the visualisations mentioned above.

Agarose gels in EPRO shop

Our agarose is characterised by its high Biotechnology Grade purity. As a result, the agarose purchased

in EPRO shop will enable you to obtain reliable and objective results during testing.

Moreover, the proposed agarose has a high gel-binding strength which translates into its strength as well as stability and sharpness of the striations due to the excellent cross-linking of the gel. In this way, it is even easier to achieve precision in ongoing work or analyses.

Depending on your needs, we offer agarose for DNA separation with different lengths of base pairs, low-melting or highly cross-linked agarose, and here they are:

  • High Resolution Grade – agarose for the separation of short fragments of nucleic acids and PCR products, most efficient below 2000 base pairs.

  • Biotechnology Grade – agarose for most molecular biology applications, excellent in gel strength, perfect in the visualisation of striations, reliable in everyday work,

  • High Gel Strange – agarose with high gel-binding strength. It is characterised by extremely low absorption of staining agents. It is suitable for pulsed field electrophoresis and separation of high molecular weight DNA at lower concentrations as well as for general nucleic acid separation,

  • High Resolution Plus – agarose with a strong structure and improved transparency, particularly suitable for the separation of PCR products and DNA fragments between 200 - 800 base pairs,

  • Low Melt – specially modified agarose with which nucleic acids can be recovered. Low-melt agarose typical of the work with DNA fragments of more than 1,000 base pairs,

  • Low Melt, PCR Grade – similar to Low Melt agarose, this is a specially modified low melt agarose suitable for PCR products in the 200-800 bp range.

  • Super Resolution Plus – due to a stronger structure, this agarose is designed for short DNA fragments, from 25 to 200 base pairs, gels have higher transparency and therefore greater working comfort.

More detailed information on the specifications of the individual agaroses can be found in the product tabs.

Our agarose range is extensive. Please therefore note that  if you are in any doubt as to which product is right for you,  we will be happy to provide you with a professional and friendly advice.
